About Affordable Housing by Newscenter24

Affordable Housing by Newscenter24 is a free directory that pulls the scattered world of subsidized housing into one place. We gather Section 8 rentals, low income apartments, local housing authorities, rent assistance programs, and public housing waiting lists from across all fifty states, then pair them with plain guides so you can see how each program actually works before you apply.

Why we built this

Finding affordable housing in the United States is harder than it should be. The information is spread across hundreds of separate agency websites, waiting lists open and close with little warning, and the rules are often written in language that is tough to follow when you are already under pressure to find a home.

We started this site to fix that. The idea is simple: collect what is already public, organize it by state and city, and explain it in everyday words, so anyone looking for a safe and affordable place to live can reach the right program and the right contact without wading through paperwork first.

What you can do here

Everything on the site is free to use and nothing is hidden behind an account. Here is what you will find when you start looking.

Browse by location

Search Section 8, low income, and affordable rentals right down to your city, with the address and contact details for each listing.

Track waiting lists

Check which public housing and Section 8 waiting lists are open, closed, or opening soon, sorted by the housing authority that runs them.

Find local help

Look up the housing authorities and rent assistance programs that serve your area and learn what each one can actually do for you.

Read plain guides

Follow step by step articles on how to qualify, how to apply, and what to do once a housing voucher finally comes through.

Where our information comes from

Our listings are drawn from public directories and government sources, then refreshed on a regular schedule. Where a program publishes its current status, such as whether a waiting list is open or closed, we show it so you are not left guessing.

Programs still change quickly, though. We always recommend confirming the details with the housing authority or property directly before you make a decision or send in an application, since they hold the final word on availability, pricing, and who qualifies.

Disclaimer

A few important notes on how to use the information you find here.

General information only

Everything on this site is provided for general guidance. It is not legal, financial, or housing advice, and it is best treated as a starting point rather than the final answer.

No guarantees

We work hard to keep listings accurate and current, but we cannot promise that every detail is complete, correct, or up to the minute. You use the site at your own discretion.

Outside links

Some pages point to government agencies and other websites we do not run. We are not responsible for their content, their accuracy, or how they handle your information.

Not a housing authority

Affordable Housing by Newscenter24 does not own properties, administer programs, or accept applications. We help you find the right office, and the application itself always happens with them.
