The Uvalde Housing Authority (UHA) is currently accepting Public Housing waiting list pre-applications for families and senior/disabled households.Please note: This waiting list has preferences. This means that applicants who qualify for these preferences will receive assistance before applicants who do not. Because of these preferences, it is likely applicants who do qualify will have a long wait to receive assistance, or will not receive assistance from this office.There are two ways to apply:Pick up a pre-application at the UHA office, located at 1700 Garner Field Rd, Uvalde, TX 78801.Call the UHA at (830) 278-7161 to request a pre-application be mailed to you.Once the pre-application has been completed, it must be mailed or hand delivered to the address above, or faxed to (830) 278-3665.Please note: Before the applicant is placed on the waiting list, they must visit the UHA in person to fill out a criminal background form.The following documentation is required when submitting the pre-application: Photo ID, birth certificate and Social Security Number of all members of the household, criminal background form.The UHA has identified the following preference: Disabled.Applicants will be placed on the waiting list by date and time of pre-application submission.Important note: Applicants will receive a confirmation number when either applying, or being placed on the waiting list, depending on housing authority policy. It is important to keep that number in a safe, easy to access place. It will be needed any time when referencing your pre-application with the housing authority.If any of your application information changes from the time you submitted the original pre-application (such as contact information, income, and household members), inform the housing authority immediately. In the case that the office sends a notice that does not get returned, or if application information is out of date, your name may be terminated from the waiting list.
