The Housing Authority of the City of Springfield (HACS) is accepting Public Housing waiting list applications from an unknown open date, until further notice.There are fours ways to apply while the waitlist is open:Complete the online application.Print the paper application.Pick up an application in person at the HACS office, located at 421 W. Madison St., Springfield, MO 65806, from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm CT, Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays; and from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm on Wednesdays.Call the HACS at (417) 866-4329 to have a pre-application mailed to you. The office has expressed it will only mail pre-applications to those who live 50 miles outside of Springfield, MO.Once the application has been completed, it can be mailed or dropped off to the HACS office at the address above by 4:00 pm each day. Faxed pre-applications will not be accepted.Please note: The following documentation is required of all members of the household: Social Security Card, State or Federal photo ID, Supplement to Application for Federally Assisted Housing form (completed by Head of Household), Housing History form.This waiting list has the following preferences:Elderly, Disabled, HandicappedVeteranSpouse of Deceased VeteranFamilies of two or more persons.Please note: Once an applicant's name nears the top of the waiting list, they will be notified by mail to set up an appointment. Applicants must have up-to-date contact information, and are required to report changes to the HACS.
