As of July 2017, the Housing Authority of the City of Bessemer (HACB) is currently accepting Public Housing waiting list pre-applications for families and senior/disabled households.To apply, visit the HACB office to pick up a pre-application, located at 1515 Fairfax Ave, Bessemer, AL 35020, from 7:30 am until 4:30 pm, Monday-Friday.Once the pre-application has been completed, it must be hand delivered to the address listed above, from 8:00 am until 3:30 pm, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays only.Be sure to include these documents with the pre-application: Social Security Cards and birth certificates for all household members, proof of all income, and photo IDs for all adult household members.The HACB does have a local preference and the staff will go over them with you when you return the pre-application.For more information, visit the HACB website, or call the office at (205) 481-4420.
