It is a cottage style community with four buildings. Each home has its own front entrance. Wintergreen is owned by the Harwinton Housing Authority which operates under the auspices of the Town of Harwinton. The community if funded by the USDA Rural Development office and as such the community does provide rental assistance for some of the units. The USDA-RD 515 program for the elderly is open to residents whose head or co-head is aged 62 or older or has a disability. The application packet includes more information on all eligibility criteria including income restrictions. Some resident amenities include a large community area with full kitchen for resident activities, a coin operated laundry room and numerous outside recreational areas.
